Annual Meeting!

Come join us for a fun filled celebration of...You! Space City Credit Union's 44th Annual Membership Meeting will be held on April 18, 2009 at Buckhorn Ranch & Lake. We will enjoy a family friendly event full of fun, food, and festivities the whole family will love! Space City Credit Union's Annual Meeting is a way for us to give back to our members. When you deposit $25 in a savings account, you become a member and an owner of the credit union. As a member your views are important to us. Our annual meeting is an occasion for management and elected officials to report to you, our owners. And it's an opportunity for you to learn about the credit union's financial position, products and services, current business issues, and goals.

Cardholder Safety

With the amount of technology used on a daily basis, it is important to do everything you can to protect your identity. Many fraud schemes begin with financial institution "imposters" who ask you to verify your personal information. They then use the information collected to commit credit card, mail, social security, and/or mail fraud. If you receive an email, call, or text message that tells you to confirm personal information do not do it. Never give out personal information on the phone, through the mail, or over the internet unless you have initiated the contact or you know who you're dealing with.  If you are unsure whether the person soliciting your information is a valid Credit Union representative call your Credit Union immediately at 713.222.1244 to verify.

Here are a few everyday Identity Theft Protection tips:

*Protect your home computer by installing anti-virus software and updating your operating system whenever necessary.

*Before submitting any sensitive information through the World Wide Web, look for "https" in the Web address, or the "lock" icon on the browser's status bar.

*Try using a combination of letters and numbers for your passwords. Common information like last names and birthdays should not be used.

*Make sure to shred insurance information, bills, medical information, credit card receipts, bank statements, copies of applications, etc.

Closing

Space City Credit Union's main branch will be closing at 1pm Wednesday, December 24, 2008, and our GE location will be closed all day in observance of Christmas Eve. The Credit Union will be closed Christmas Day Thursday, December 25, 2008, and will resume normal hours on Friday, December 26, 2008.
